Gestational surrogacy contracts are legal in the state of Connecticut. New England Fertility’s surrogates are either local (i.e., from Connecticut) or from other surrogate friendly states. This minimizes the risk of any legal complication following the birth of the child. In most cases the intended parents can be named as the parents on the birth certificate thus obviating the need to adopt the child.
Before proceeding, a formal contract is drawn between the gestational carrier and the intended parents. The contract covers all issues related to the treatment and the pregnancy. An escrow account is kept with an attorney to cover the gestational carrier’s costs, which are typically covered by medical insurance.
